The country's only full-production photography studio is managed by seasoned professionals from the advertising and film industry. Folks who understand what photography is all about and are eager to share the joy of funky photography with the rest of the world. Check them out:
J.A. Tadena
This guy definitely knows his stuff. JA is a multi-awarded director of photography and is one of the most sought-after commercial directors in the Philippines. Aside from shooting TV commercials for some of the country's top brands like San Miguel, Pepsi, Smart and Close-up, JA has worked on movies such as Mano Po 2 where he won an award for best cinematography at the young age of 27. He is the youngest awardee in the history of Metro Manila Film Festival. Last but not least, he's a proud dad – see if you can spot the huge full-body shot of his son at the Blow-up Babies studio!
Ning Tadena
All of this gal's experience prepared her for Blow-Up Babies. Ning is a graduate of U.P. Diliman for Masscom majoring in Film and Audio-Visual. She is a seasoned entrepreneur with a wealth of experience ranging from event management at the Manila Diamond Hotel to restaurant management with Bravo! Aside from being a proprietor of Pet Mobile, an animal clinic and grooming center in Paranaque, Ning was also a pre-school teacher for two years. She recently conquered the world of make-up with a stint at MAC cosmetics. Today, you can most often catch her at Blow-up Babies with son Gabbie (and puppy Princess) in tow!
Quark Henares
Here's another fella who's conquering the world. Quark is an international award-winning film director and that's being modest! He made his first feature when he was 21, and his second film, Keka, won the Audience Favorite Award in the LA Asia Pacific Film & Video festival. He is also the recipient of the Carlos Palanca award for teleplay. Aside from directing movies, Quark involves himself in other activities as a radio host, band manager, magazine writer and professor at the Ateneo de Manila University. Forever the kid at heart, this guy is having a grand time playing with all that life has to offer!
Lia Martinez
Can you say digital colorist? Better, do you know where to find one? We do. Lia is a graduate of Ateneo de Manila University, is a commercial editor and one of a handful of specialist telecine/ digital colorists in the country. She has experience in post-production for numerous television commercials and films. Aside from working as the Post Production Supervisor for Erik Matti's Exodus, Lia was also the digital colorist for Shake, Rattle and Roll 2k5 and Lav Diaz's Heremias, the work-in-progress of which has screened in the Torino, Rotterdam, and Fribourg Film Festivals. Here's one kid all in a class of her own!
Jessie Pastor
Try this tongue twister – creative director, photographer, commercial director, teacher, interior designer, graphic artist, cinematographer! Here's one more for ya: Proud papa. That's Jessie for you. Jessie was a multi-awarded Creative Director for J. Walter Thompson for thirteen years before pursuing his love for photography, and not much later, cinematography. Jessie is a proud scholar of both National High School for the Arts at Makiling, and Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of the Philippines, Diliman.
Jenny Lao-Pastor
Jenny joined advertising as Art Director soon after graduating from Fine Arts at UP Diliman. For a total of ten years, she was Art/Associate Creative Director at Jimenez Advertising (now JimBasic) and J. Walter Thompson. Working in the agency for ten years has awarded her medals and trophies for numerous local and international creative award giving bodies. Nowadays, Jenny is a free-lance Production Designer, designing sets and costumes for ads of some of the most well-known brands. But her favorite gig these days is being the proud mommy of toddler, Paco! |
